Wood County Jail (STRONG) Programming

The Wood County Strength Through Recovery and Ongoing Growth (STRONG) Program represents the Criminal Justice department’s presence in the Wood County Jail. It is a collaborative effort between:

  • Wood County Criminal Justice Department
  • Wood County Sheriff’s Department
  • Three Bridges Recovery
  • ODC-Opportunity for Hope Clinic
  • Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ)
  • Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS)
  • Numerous community programming partners
  • Community medication assisted treatment providers

Wood County STRONG Programming is made up of a medication assisted treatment (MAT) program and a jail recovery pod program. Both components are supported by State (DHS) and County Opioid Settlement funds. The recovery pod is also supported by a DOJ Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) grant.

Mission

Our mission is to empower individuals in the justice system to overcome addictions and reclaim their lives through comprehensive, compassionate recovery services. We provide personalized case management, medication-assisted treatment, peer support, and evidence-based therapy to help individuals break the cycle of substance use and incarceration.

Program Offerings:

  • Medication to assist with recovery from alcohol and/or opiates
  • Medical access to professionals with expertise in primary care and addiction medicine
  • Continued medication for those incarcerated who have a compliant medication assisted treatment prescription in the community
  • Recovery coaching
  • SMART Recovery programming
  • An opportunity to participate in a recovery pod environment that exposes participants to various modalities of recovery including clinical counseling, trauma programming, support groups, and cognitive behavioral recovery groups
  • Care coordination with re-entry back into the community
  • Referral assistance to counseling and ancillary services

Eligibility:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Wood County Jail Inmate
  • Alcohol or Opioid Use Disorder (MAT program)
  • A screened substance use need for any substance of abuse (Treatment Pod)
  • Voluntary participation in program

STRONG Referral Form

There are multiple access points into the STRONG program. Upon entry to the jail, individuals receive screeners to assess eligibility along with a letter telling them to return the screeners to us if they are interested in the program. Our information is also on the jail kiosks, and individuals can request our services at any time. This is a voluntary program, and individuals are expected to reach out to us if they are interested.
