Lieutenant Kalvin Dorshorst is a lifelong resident of Wood County and has served the Wood County Sheriff’s Department since beginning his law enforcement career. Lieutenant Dorshorst attended Mid-State Technical College, where he earned his degree in Criminal Justice–Law Enforcement. While attending college, he began his career with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department as a part-time deputy. Upon graduating in 2011, he accepted a full-time deputy position. Throughout his career, Lieutenant Dorshorst has served in a variety of specialized roles, including Special Response Team member, Field Training Officer, Part-Time Deputy Liaison, and Traffic Crash Reconstructionist. In 2019, he was promoted to Patrol Lieutenant and currently oversees one of the department’s day shift crews. In addition to his patrol responsibilities, Lieutenant Dorshorst oversees the department’s Field Training Program and Part-Time Deputy Program. He also serves as a Control Tactics Instructor, providing training in TASER, WRAP, and G.L.O.V.E. systems. Committed to the well-being of department personnel, he is actively involved in the Sheriff’s Department Wellness Program as the Chaplain Liaison, Peer Support Team, and coordinator of additional officer wellness initiatives. Lieutenant Dorshorst is a graduate of the Law Enforcement Command College and is a Certified Public Manager. In 2026, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Lakeland University, reflecting his continued commitment to professional development, leadership, and public service.

Lieutenant Bryan Peterson was hired as a deputy, by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department, in March of 2011. In March of 2015, he was promoted to Lieutenant. Lieutenant Peterson grew up in the city of Nekoosa and is a graduate of Nekoosa High School. After high school he attended Edgewood College, Madison Area Technical College and Mid-State Technical College. He has an Associate’s Degree in Police Science. Lieutenant Peterson started his law enforcement career as a jail deputy for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in February 2004. In December 2004, he transferred to the road division as a patrol deputy. In May 2008 he left the Adams County Sheriff’s Office and started with the Rome Police Department where he became a Firearms instructor and a Concealed Weapon Carry Instructor. In March of 2011 he seized the opportunity to work for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. Lieutenant Peterson is a Field Training Officer, Handgun Instructor, Concealed Weapon Carry Instructor and a Tactical Response Instructor here at the sheriff’s department. He has also been a part of the Wood County Special Response Team since 2013. As Lieutenant, he oversees the operation of his shift and is also responsible for the Reserve Program, Crime Stoppers Program, Honor Guard and is the Internship Coordinator.

Lieutenant Brandon Christianson was promoted to the position of Patrol Lieutenant in 2024. He is 2005 graduate of Mid-State Technical College with an associate’s degree in criminal justice-police science. Lieutenant Christianson was hired by the Wood County Sheriff’s Department in 2006 as a Reserve Deputy. After being hired in 2006, Lieutenant Christianson has held positions of Boat Patrol Officer with Town of Rome Police Department, Patrol Officer with City of Nekoosa Police Department, Patrol Sergeant with Town of Grand Rapids Police Department. Lieutenant Christianson was hired full-time with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department in 2013 as a Patrol Deputy and has held various titles. Those being Patrol Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Canine Handler, Boat Patrol Officer, Shift Commander, Field Training Officer, Special Response Team Entry Member, Honor Guard Member, Preliminary Breath Test Calibrator, Emergency Vehicle and Operation Instructor, Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, and Less Lethal Instructor. After his promotion to Patrol Lieutenant, Lieutenant Christianson has been assigned the positions of Special Response Team Commander and Coordinator of the K9 Unit.

Lieutenant Eric P. Marten has been with the Wood County Sheriff’s Department since 2012, where he currently serves as a Patrol Lieutenant. Before joining the Sheriff’s Department, Lieutenant Marten built a distinguished law enforcement and military career. Lieutenant Marten served as a Sergeant with the Pittsville Police Department, a Wood County Reserve Deputy, a Village Constable for Auburndale and attained the rank of Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Throughout his tenure at the Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Marten has held numerous specialized assignments. Lieutenant Marten currently leads the department’s Honor Guard Team. Lieutenant Marten’s previous assignments include Special Response Team (Entry Team), Field Training Officer and Seasonal Weights Enforcement Division. Lieutenant Marten graduated from Pittsville High School in 1995, and he earned his Criminal Justice Degree from Mid-State Technical College in 2008. Lieutenant Marten has continued his professional development through advanced leadership training, including the FBI Academy Trilogy Series and the Department of Homeland Security Leadership Academy.
